Suwannee County, FL - Construction might be in the beginning stages, but soon a $130 million state of the art sawmill will be built just off of Highway 90 in Suwannee County. The European company Klausner Group will be the ones operating the mill.

"They operate one of the worlds premiere sawmills and Suwannee County is very excited having here. This is all for economic development and job creation," said Randy Harris, Suwannee County, County Administrator.

The job site is approximately 150 acres and will bring more than 300 jobs to the area.

"It isn't just the initial 350 jobs that we're looking at over the next three years, there will be hundreds of more jobs created as a result of this sawmill," said Harris.

Local business owner, Shelly Wood of Pomodoro Italian Deli said the sawmill will give her restaurant a much needed lift.

"Well I believe it will help our business, because it will bring more jobs into the community. Course that will boost our business more, people with money you know they spend money," said Shelly Wood.

The facility is expected to yield a total employment of 940 jobs in a five county region. It's the first project for Suwannee County's 500 Acre Catalyst Site.

"We're excited knowing that they're many other companies that are already contacting us to take additional properties out here and bring addition jobs to our area," said Harris.

Weather depending the sawmill is slated to be done by July 2014.
