Tallahassee, FL (AP) - Fifteen high-ranking officials of Florida's corrections system are being let go as new Gov. Rick Scott, and his new corrections chief put their team in place.

Ed Buss, who will take over the department on Monday from outgoing secretary Walt McNeil, starts off with seven new executives named to his management team Wednesday in an announcement from deputy secretary Daniel Ronay.

One warden, a deputy secretary and several assistant secretaries of the state prison system were among those notified that their last day at the department is Friday. No reasons were given for the terminations.

Scott earlier this week announced plans for major cuts for the agency that oversees the state's massive prison system.

THEY CAN NOT NOT BE REPLACED THEY ALL HELD JOBS THAT SOMEONE HAS TO FILL. SOME OF THESE PEOPLE ARE GOOD PEOPLE WITH FAMILIES JUST LIKE MOST OF US AND HAVE PUT IN SEVERAL YEARS OF HARD WORK TO GET WHERE THEY WERE. AND YES SOME OF THEM MAY HAVE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED BUT WHAT GOOD DID IT DO TO ANY OF US? AS IT WAS SAID THEY WERE REPLACED WITH SLICK RICKS GOOD BUDDIES WHO WE ALL KNOW HE WILL PAY AS WELL AS THOSE HE REPLACED WERE BEING PAID. WE ALL FORGET THIS IS THE MAN WHO STOLE FROM MEDICARE!! Actually, Rick Scott had no choice but to take from the people. Jeb Bush took all the money we had & moved it to Texas, Charlie Crist took all we had in reserve. So, that left Scott nothing to do but take from the workers themselves. I'm gald he's cleaning up all the double-dipping though!Hairodopolis just hired 3 dd's that are getting $6,000ea. retirement. Paying them each $150,000. THAT IS RIDICULOUS!!!

I don't blame the man, someone should have done this a lot sooner. There are too many facilities being run the same way they were 50 years ago. (if ya know what I mean). Get rid of those who are lining their own pockets and hiring unqualified officers (like family.

I was once a correctional officer at ACI in Sneads, and I know first hand that corruption is in full force in the DOC prison system. From the higher ups to the lowly peons. One thing for sure, it's not what you know to work at ACI, it's who you know. That place is full of Officers who are in one way or the other "related". (From uncles, cousin, brothers, sisters, fathers and sons). Don't believe? Ask anyone in Sneads, Florida about ACI.

Nope, he can't get my job because I'm self-employed. I work up to 100 hours a week to be independent and it's worth it. I don't rely on "Uncle Sugar" to take care of me. But if the Governor wants my job he can have it as I'm moving my business out of Florida this year anyway. Sick of Tallahassee white and black trash, corrupt politicians, incompetent state employees, and horrific taxes for nothing.

Losing some management is good, replacing them is bad. To those who are down on the officers, we dont steal from inmates! If it were up to us there would be no canteen and inmates would actually have to work....wow what a new concept.....maybe Gov. Scott should try that one!, would be a really great way to save money instead of spending it on rehab programs that do not work or education programs that the citizens already paid for and the uneducated inmates decided not to use!
