PENSACOLA, Fla. (AP) --
Employees of one Panhandle county enjoy 13 paid holidays a year.
Escambia County employees' calendar includes every standard
holiday as well as Good Friday, the Friday after Thanksgiving,
Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve. This year, since Christmas and
New Year's fell on Saturday, employees took off Friday and Monday,
creating four-day weekends.
County employees average an additional three to six weeks of paid vacation each year depending on length of service with the county.
The calendar is approved by the county's administrator.
