"It is imperative that I give back to the community that I was raised in and help me to become the man I am today, " Will Gay of the Pittsburgh Steelers stated.” The past two years Gay did a turkey drive where he handed out turkeys to people in the community, this year he wanted to be more personable. Therefore, he decided to team up with the Big Bend Homeless Coalition and provide an entire meal for the families. "I want to reach as many people as possible to ensure that they receive a great meal this Thanksgiving" Will Gay stated.

Will Gay will be hosting this dinner at the Big Bend Homeless Coalition on November 22, 2010 at 2729 W Pensacola St. Tallahassee, FL 32304 from 5:30-6:00pm.

The dinner will be provided from those in the Hope Community. The Hope Community is a transitional housing program for homeless families, single women, and single men. Our purpose is to provide a safe and structured living environment where each resident is empowered to recover from homelessness and become self-sufficient. We accomplish this goal by partnering with residents to pursue a recovery-based program, maintain a steady source of income, and find stable housing. HOPE Community is the only program of its kind in our eight-county Big Bend area. Over 70% of HOPE residents move into stable housing.

Since 2005, HOPE Community helped over 785 people – including more than 300 children – move to stable housing, ending their episode of homelessness. HOPE Community has a six-month time frame for residents participating in the program. HOPE provides quality services and housing for 100-115 at any given time.
