TAMPA, Fla. (AP) -- Officials say the woman accused of killing
her teenage daughter and son is being treated at a hospital.

Authorities say Julie Powers Schenecker was taken to Tampa
General Hospital shortly after midnight Saturday to be treated for
a medical condition that existed before she was taken to jail.

Police said Schenecker shot and killed her son on the way to
soccer practice Thursday night, then drove to their upscale home
and shot her daughter in the head while the girl studied at her
computer. The teens' bodies were found Friday morning, after
Schenecker's mother called police and told them she was concerned
after her daughter had sent an e-mail saying she was depressed.

Schenecker's husband is an Army officer who was in the Middle
East when the shootings happened.

Tampa, FL (AP) - Police say the wife of a military officer
shot and killed her son on the way to soccer practice, then drove
to their upscale home and shot her daughter in the head while she
studied at her computer.

Afterward, the woman told detectives she killed the teens for
being "mouthy."

Police spokeswoman Laura McElroy says Julie Powers Schenecker
admitted the slayings after officers found her covered in blood on
the back porch of her home Friday morning.

Schenecker was jailed and charged with two counts of
first-degree murder.

Her mother had called police from Texas because she was unable
to reach the 50-year-old woman, who she said was depressed and had
been complaining about her children.

Schenecker's husband, Parker Schenecker, is an Army colonel
stationed at the headquarters of U.S. Central Command at MacDill
Air Force Base in Tampa.

A CentCom spokesman says the father had been away for several
days when the killings happened.

I don't have any pity for her, she doesn't need to be evaluated she needs to be put in a room where her kids pictures are everywhere and make her suffer, the pain they felt.ON her side your are stupid and very ignorant why would you say something like that children are a gift from god and obviously you dont know who that is.

To on her side. I guess your mother did not feel that way about you. You were given a chance, these kids do not have a chance to change anymore. At some point we have all been described as mouthy I am sure. Does that make it okay for someone to take someone elses life? If we were all given that liberty there would be no one left in this world.

This woman isn't a mother. A mother would NEVER think of harming their child. A mother, in any situation, would give her own life instead. All teens are mouthy. Their mouths run faster than their brains. This is so sad...

sounds like the firearm is completely irrelevant (how do you shoot each of the people you love twice in the head) she would have used a knife or whatever to kill her poor unsuspecting children. She wrote a note, she knew she was going to kill them way before it happened... she had no sane moment where she thought "I should just leave before I hurt my kids" this woman was FAR GONE CRAZY. what a pity this whole thing is.
