A new poll released today looks at the trends of Asian-American voters here in Florida.
The poll surveyed seven-hundred Asian-Americans nationwide. One hundred and forty of them were here in Florida. The poll was conducted by the Lake Research Partners. They say that Asian-Americans are the fastest growing racial group in the country.
Of the Asian-American voters polled in Florida, 87% are almost certain to vote this year. 46% are Democrats, 33% are Republicans and 20% are Independents. That's higher than the National Averages for Asian-American Voters. Nationally, more than 50% are Democrats and 16% are Republicans.
Out of Florida voters polled, 62% say the country is headed in the wrong direction. Nationally, that number is 47%.
Back in 2008, one in five eligible Asian-American voters here in Florida did not vote. Researchers say the polls shows they are more enthusiastic heading into this election. They say the purpose of the poll is to encourage candidates and lawmakers to pay more attention to this growing demographic.
