Zimmerman Must Surrender; Bond Revoked
by Kyle Hightower, AP

Sanford, FL (AP) -- June 1, 2012 --

A judge on Friday revoked the bond of the neighborhood watch volunteer charged with murdering Trayvon Martin and ordered him returned to jail within 48 hours, saying George Zimmerman and his wife misled the court about how much money they had available when his bond was set at $150,000.

Prosecutors claim Zimmerman had $135,000 available that had been raised by a website he set up. Zimmerman's wife, Shellie, testified at the bond hearing in April that they had limited funds available since she was a nursing student and Zimmerman wasn't working.

"He can't sit back and obtain the benefit of a lower bond based upon those material falsehoods," said Circuit Judge Kenneth Lester when he made his ruling.

Defense attorney Mark O'Mara said the fact that Zimmerman and his wife never used the money for anything indicated "there was no deceit." Since his release in late April, Zimmerman has been staying at an undisclosed location for his safety.

Prosecutor Bernie De la Rionda described the Zimmermans' testimony as "misleading."

"This court was led to believe they didn't have a single penny," said De la Rionda. "It was misleading and I don't know what words to use other than it was a blatant lie."

The judge said he would schedule a hearing after Zimmerman is back in custody so the neighborhood watch leader could explain himself.

Zimmerman is pleading not guilty to second-degree murder and claims self-defense. Zimmerman shot Martin in February during a confrontation at a gated community of townhouses in Sanford, Fla., where Zimmerman lived and where the 17-year-old Martin was visiting his father's fiancee.

Benjamin Crump, an attorney for Trayvon Martin's parents, Tracy Martin and Sybrina Fulton, said his clients have always said Zimmerman should remain in jail until trial, which O'Mara said he believed wouldn't be until next year.

Crump was asked if he thought that if Zimmerman would be willing to lie about his finances that he would be willing to lie about what happen the night Martin was killed.

"We fully expect that the special prosecutor will make George Zimmerman's credibility be front and center in this entire case," Crump said. "And whatever dishonesty that comes forth by George Zimmerman that they can prove, you can best believe it will be the issue of this case and rightfully so."

Prosecutors also said Zimmerman had failed to surrender a second passport, but Lester dismissed that concern as the equivalent of someone who has lost a driver's license, applies for a new one and then finds the old driver's license.

The delay in an arrest for 44 days prompted protests nationwide and led to Sanford's police chief stepping aside so emotions could cool down.

At Friday's court hearing, De la Rionda and O'Mara also asked a judge to stop the public release of witness names and statements made by Zimmerman to police officers. Those documents normally are part of the public record under Florida law, and the judge agreed.

Lester said he would order the release of the documents once he has reviewed them and redacted items that aren't subject to disclosure under the state's public records law.

The prosecutor had argued that the case would be tried in the public arena rather than the courtroom if the documents were made public.

"We are in a new age with Twitter, Facebook, and all these things I've never heard of before in my career," De la Rionda said. "Everybody gets to find out intimate details about witnesses that never occurred before. Witnesses are going to be reluctant to get involved."

A consortium of more than a dozen media groups, including The Associated Press, asked the judge to ignore the request, saying such records are presumed to be publicly available under Florida law.

Rachel Fugate, an attorney for the Orlando Sentinel, cited the Casey Anthony trial as an example of a highly publicized case in which a jury was able to be seated despite intense media coverage. The Florida mother was acquitted last year of killing her 2-year-old daughter.

"Discovery in Florida has traditionally been open ... and Florida hasn't encountered problems seating juries and giving defendants fair trials," Fugate said.

O'Mara said Friday on a website that he doesn't expect the case to be ready for trial until next year.

O'Mara said he expects to call on 50 witnesses who need to be deposed before he decides whether to file a "stand your ground" motion which would ask for a hearing before a judge without a jury. At the hearing, Zimmerman would argue self-defense under the Florida law which gives wide latitude to use deadly force rather than retreat in a fight if people believe they are in danger of being killed or seriously injured.

Judge revokes George Zimmerman's bond in Trayvon Martin killing; gives him 48 hours to surrender.

SANFORD, Fla. (AP) - June 1, 2012 -

Prosecutors are asking a judge to revoke the bond of the neighborhood watch volunteer charged with killing 17-year-old Trayvon Martin.

Prosecutors said in a motion filed Friday that George Zimmerman misled them about his finances when testifying during a bail hearing that allowed him to be released from jail on a $150,000 bond.

During the hearing, Zimmerman's family testified they had limited funds.

Zimmerman's attorney said several days later that he had discovered his client had raised more than $200,000 from a website. That money wasn't disclosed at the bond hearing.

Zimmerman is pleading not guilty to second-degree murder and claims self-defense.

If it comes to trial, there will be blacks on the jury -- expect a) a guilty verdict or b) numerous mistrials.

16 year old in miami, shot 4 times in back by lone cop, apparently while laying on the ground -- white/hispanic kid, had a baseball bat. Seems to be very little outrage -- my guess is the cop was black, but don't know that yet.

He can blatantly lie about money he will blatantly lie about what transpired. You know he could have had someone break his nose before he went to the doctor the next day. He does not look bad at all in the photos. If he had a broken nose even in that short period of time he would have had very dark black eyes and would have packing in his nostrils only a little mark on his nose and insignificant marks on the back of his head that did not need butterfly bandages, glue or any type of bandaid. Hmmm really makes you think huh? Also, he could have shot to injur him but a direct shot to the heart? He did not want Trayvon alive to tell the other side of the altercation. Trayvon's alledged pot smoking and school issues have no standing in this incident. This was stalked intended murder of a minor. Guns have no place in neighborhood watch. Notice it says neighborhood WATCH not neighborhood armed patrol. Watch means watch not stalk and kill.

Too many witnesses saw Trayvon beat Zimmerman up. It was one shot not thirty that killed the miserable thug. Trayvon's past behavior of swinging at a bus driver, having jewelry that was not his own, defacing property, having an empty pot bag, three suspensions from school, and beating up Zimmerman have everything to do with Trayvon's character. Did you see the notes about THC in Trayvon's system from the autopsy? BTW Have you ever had a relative who had their head beaten or faced with living for the rest of their life with a traumatic brain injury? They are never the same if they survive the event. A sibling had a broken nose from a game at school. Guess what he did not have bruising of any kind but certainly did after surgery to correct interior damage. Your comments have little merit to this event go and get a real life.

his past has nothing to do with what happend, Trayvon was walking to his father's house on a side walk, a want-to-be cop shot an unarmed teenager, and by the way thugs carry guns who had the gun !!!

Trayvon's past has everything to do with the events that happened on Feb. 26th. Trayvon was violent, destructive,anti-social, used drugs and hurt people. 1.) It was not his father's house. 2.) Zimmerman was not a want to be cop. He participated in a neighborhood watch program. 3.)Many citizens in this country carry guns because juvenile delinquents like Trayvon are roving the streets and causing problems. Trayvon had jewelry that was not his own and was physically violent towards people. This fits most dictionary definitions of what a thug is truth. Look things up before you blog.

Trayvon's lawyer is not that smart either, but this is the race card at work. Have you ever seen such publicity when blacks kill whites? As for Mr. Crump, I has wondered how he got a law licence, when he butchers the English language every time he opens his mouth. I "axe" you this question, instead of "ask". The word strength, is pronounced "strenth." Got it? Me, too.

And did you see the mean grimace on his face all the time when he blames everybody for racism? Look at Mr. O'Mara... He just the opposite. He is as cool as a cucumber. He uses abstract thinking and is nice to everyone. Mr Crump is mad and making racist accuasations like he broke his own face, or he executed a little kid just because he was black, or he apologized because of self-serving interests. Well, the fool... TM's Mom had said that he should make an apology & she wanted to know if GZ knew his age and if he was armed I think. So don't you think that's why GZ apologized & answered those two questions? What, does Mr. Crump think that was a coincidence or something? It's just another 80% of his lies. Of course he's not that smart. You don't need to be that smart when all you do is blame whites for being racists & the whites back up a little in surprise and let him do it because they are used to being respectful to blacks because they are trying to make things better in the world with racial relations. But Mr. Crump is going overboard. I'm pretty sure everybody is starting to see that. If not, I repeat, just look at the grimise on his face of hate and contempt. By the way Zimmerman is a Hispanic. I think TM could see that when he punched him up close & personal in the face. Of course Mr. Crump says he's a "White" Hispanic. He's got to get that "White" stuff in there. Man, he really hates the whites, doesn't he? Talk about hate crimes. That's why GZ was even arrested in the 1st place. Now that I think of it, it's actually a hate crime (All his fraud that caused this). It is apparent or clear that Mr. Crump is the racist, not Zimmerman. He needs to arrested on a hate crime. Look what he's done to Mr. Zimmerman, false imprisonment. And it's not enough to have bond. He actually want to see that (White man in his eyes) rot in the cell. Yes, I think it is the race card at work. I agree Fed up. You got it !!!

How could a jury ever be involved in this if the Judge is an honorable person? And he is... I bet you it never gets to a jury. Not even close. The Judge was listening when the defense swore they had no evidence and didn't bother to examine GZ's medical records before charging him. All they had was a racist's fraud and lies to influence them and others to do their dirty work for them. They were unprofessional. They falsely imprisoned GZ without themselves 1st looking into the actual merits of the case on their own. They fell for the fraud & now the damage has been done. We demand the arrest of Mr. Crump. Only this time our request has merit.
