Tallahassee, Florida - March 17, 2011 --
Red Hills International Horse Trials will be sponsoring an overnight horseback riding camp for deserving kids in Leon County on March 26 and 27, 2011. The program is run by the Tallahassee Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Affairs department and will take place at Elinor Klapp-Phipps Park.
“It is a really rewarding and outstanding experience for kids who have never had the opportunity to do something like this before,” says Tracy Davis, assistant supervisor at the Sue Herndon McCollum Community Center.
Twenty- two kids from six area community centers will be selected to participate in this experience. The overnight camping trip will include horseback riding, a campfire cooking demonstration and stargazing with the Tallahassee Astronomical Society.
“We select kids to participate based on their good conduct and participation at our community centers,” Davis says. “We also like to bring kids who have never experienced something like this before.”
The Red Hills International Horse Trials, held last weekend, March 11 - 13, is sponsoring the event, making it free of charge to the kids and chaperones.
