Madison County, FL - On Monday, October 11, 2010 the resurfacing project on Highway 53 was north of the railroad tracks and causing a slow down in traffic. Because of equipment and worker safety Hwy 53 (Duval Avenue) was down to one lane as the $1,617,578.12 Department of Transportation project was entering the city limits of
Madison.
The 5.6 miles of Hwy 53 from US Hwy 90 to I-10 will be resurfaced and has an expected completion date of Christmas this year. Peavy and
Sons Construction has the contract with Wayne Brannon as the project manager. The above information is available on the Florida Department of Transportation website.
