Tallahassee, FL -- Alton Johnson had a handful of gift cards that he and his family received for Christmas. They, naturally, spent the 26th at the mall.
"The day after Christmas we're just coming out to spend some time with family, use our gift cards, and buy a couple extra presents," said Johnson.
Retailers say that December 26th is the biggest day of the year to use gift cards. It's also a big return day. Stores capitalize on this by also offering big sales to entice more business, which is just fine with Johnson and his family.
"We've got a lot of store gift cards as well as Visa gift cards to buy the kids a couple of extra kids they may have missed out on Christmas," said Johnson.
People needing to return gifts are reminded to check the return policy. Some stores have a limited amount of time in which they allow returns. Customers should also always remember the receipt.
