Thomasville, GA - The Rose Show Festival has officially started with the 36TH Annual Rosebud Parade down Broad Street. Thursday was all about a younger generation showcasing their talents.

There were many middle schools represented, cheerleading program, karate programs and much more. For parents it was all about letting their children be in the parade.

"Being able to come out and being able to enjoy being with all the people in the community, getting to see their friends it's just something special for them to do," said Tanya Robertson.

Steve Woodham's two grandsons Charlie and jack were in the parade riding their John Dee Tractor. Woodham said he loved seeing them in the parade.

"Well it's quite a treat for our grandson he came down last year and was in it and has been waiting to do it again all year," said Woodham.

Local businesses said event like the Rosebud Parade and the whole Rose Show week definitely held their business.

"This will be our first rose show yet, since we've got here in November we really realized how involved the community is and how involved the community gets with stuff like this and we're super excited for this to be our first rose show," said Austin Walters, Smallcakes Cupcakery Manager.

Friday there will be a ribbon cutting ceremony at 1:00PM for the Rose Show Festival and the 66TH Annual Rose Parade tomorrow night at 6:00PM.

In addition to the Rose Show Weekend the Thomasville Garden Club is holding their 93TH Standard Flower Show and Centennial Celebrations at the Garden Center. Events start at 2:00PM Friday at the Garden Center with a ribbon cutting ceremony.

"To be part again of the Rose Show weekend it's really great. We feel like it's just a flower weekend in Thomasville, so we're glad to be back again this weekend and also to showcase our garden center which we just recently remodeled," said Gina Shumake, Standard Flower Show Chairman.
