Nearly two days after her 5-year-old daughter was found wandering a street alone, a Navy sailor has come forward to say she is the girl's mother.
The sailor, 26-year-old Alisha Jefferson, told Pensacola-area
investigators late Wednesday she thought her daughter had been
picked up by the girl's father. Jefferson has been charged with
A driver spotted the girl wearing only pants and socks and
walking along a highway. Investigators said a frantic Jefferson
contacted them after her child's picture appeared in a local newspaper seeking information about the girl.
