Senate Communications, Energy and Utilities Committee plans to offer SB 734 to strengthen penalties for assault or battery on utility workers.

Supporters say the city of Jacksonville has seen a staggering rate of threats and violence towards utility workers.

This is one of many bills newly elected Senator Oscar Braynon will have a say on- he says one of the most interesting challenges will be working with other newly elected officials. "I anticipate that we will have some challenges in front of us. Between budget and getting to know our new governor budget. I think and him understanding how the legislature works with the governor." says Braynon.

SB 762, a proposed change tot eh Florida Climate Protection Act was also discussed. Both were voted on favorably and will be presented.
