Wakulla County, FL - The Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office is seeking three women who were involved in a grand theft shoplifting case Wednesday, Dec. 8 at 5 p.m., according to Sheriff David Harvey.
Det. Rick Buckley observed a Wal-Mart associate running after three female suspects who had left the store without paying for $825 worth of merchandise in three carts. Det. Buckley identified himself to the suspects who jumped into a vehicle and sped away from the scene. The detective narrowly missed being struck by the vehicle as it backed up toward him. The vehicle struck store carts while speeding away going north on U.S. Highway 319.
The detective retrieved the vehicle license plate number for suspect information and the case was turned over to the Criminal Investigations Division. When caught, the suspects will face grand theft and aggravated assault on a police officer charges.
The stolen merchandise was recovered by the store associate. Deputy Nathan Taylor also investigated.
