Tallahassee, FL-The Springtime Tallahassee Festival is here.

The festival's grand parade is Saturday morning. It starts over by Monroe and Brevard Streets around 10:30 a.m.

There will be more than 100 bands and floats in this year's parade along with other events throughout the day.

And the festival is not just a good time for the family, but it is a big boost for the economy. Organizers say the parade has contributed about $5 million dollars to the local economy.

"There's going to be quiet a lot going on. We have the jubilee in the park and it's going to be going from 9 to 5. We have a whole bunch of different vendors. There's literally going to be something for everyone," said Nadia Khoury with Springtime Tallahassee.

The festivities all start Saturday morning at 9 in downtown Tallahassee.

Tallahassee, Fla. -- What started as an organization dedicated to keeping Tallahassee as the state's capital over 45 years ago has now turned into a Tallahassee tradition.

"People just love springtime and it gets better every year and more people come," Raoul Clark, President, Springtime Tallahassee, said.

Great food, arts and crafts,, live music and of course the grand parade are just a few of the reasons that tens of thousands of people come to the capitol city for springtime tallahassee.

"Yu just walk around and you see the excitement and the community that's going on there, that is very rewarding for me,” Alice Destelhorst, Sringtime Tllahassee Cordinator, said.

The weekend starts off Friday with the teddy bear run and the downtown get-down followed by the parade on Saturday morning and after that. The festivities continue all day long.

"Kleman Plaza is going to be rockin', low cash cowboys are going to be the main stage entertainment, and the kids area there's face painting and pony rides and super hero pictures,” Clark said. “It's going to be wonderful."

Springtime Tallahassee is not only a good time for those who attend; it also gives the community a big economic boost.

"We did a study a while ago in conjunction with FSU and we found out that $5M is generated because of springtime Tallahassee."

And if you are wondering when organizers started planning for this weekend?

"About a year ago, as soon as last years event was over we start planning for this year, we set dates we work with our sponsors, it is free to the public, springtime Tallahassee puts it on every year for the community, we love it, and we love Tallahassee," says Clark.
