Steve Arthur has been appointed to the position of Communications Coordinator in the Office of External Affairs. In this role, Arthur will serve as one of the department’s spokespersons and will be responsible for coordinating news releases, interviews, press conferences and internal communications.
Arthur has years of communications and journalism experience. He was an award-winning reporter, columnist and editorial board member for the Citrus County Chronicle newspaper and has reported for the Associated Press in Arizona and Iran and newspapers in Illinois and Oregon.
He has also held public affairs positions with the Agency for Workforce Innovation (now the Department of Economic Opportunity) and at the Department of Corrections and promoted international education efforts for the Florida Department of Education.
He has a B.A. degree from the University of Arizona in Tucson and a M.A. degree from the University of Oregon in Eugene. He has taught journalism, creative writing and English as a Second Language at universities in Oregon, Iran, Saudi Arabia and at Al Ain in the United Arab Emirates.
He is an Air Force veteran and a US Peace Corps volunteer who served in pre-revolutionary Iran.
Arthur joins Communications Director Gretl Plessinger and Communications Coordinator Keith Kameg.
