About a thousand college students picked up shovels and wheelbarrows as part of the fourth annual 'Big Event'.
The Big Event is a call to community service and a way to give back. The students from FSU, FAMU and TCC were spread out across about sixty different sites working on everything from gardens, homeless shelters to community centers.
"As part of the Christian Campus Fellowship are mission statement is devoted to Christ, devoted to campus We like just being a part of campus and this is a big event campus puts on for us so we like to partner with them and make a difference in the community and help serve others," Ian Thomas of Big Event day volunteer.
The event started in 2009 with about 300 students. Since then it has grown to over 1100 students
