Students and Champions' Parents React to Arrests Made

Tallahassee, FL -- May 4, 2012 --

Even before anyone was arrested for Robert Champion's death, his parents said that everyone on the bus Champion was on should be arrested, and that the Marching 100 should remain suspended.

They haven't changed their tune.

Some people understand where they're coming from, while others say it may be a bit too harsh.

Tallahassee resident Michael Ference says, "Thirteen people being prosecuted for everyone's crime that was on that bus is not right whatsoever. Everyone that was on that bus that day needs to be prosecuted."

Those are just about the exact same words Pam Champion said...

There were reportedly about 30 people on the charter bus her son Robert Champion was on when FAMU Marching 100 band mates hazed him to death...

Mrs. Champion says everyone is responsible for the November 19th incident in Orlando.

"If that was my kid, I'd feel the exact same."

However, Some people feel it's fair to be a little more lenient.

Tallahassee resident Kathy Lincoln adds, "I think they're young people and I feel like they should be forgiven and that they should make rules at the university where this doesn't happen. Hoepfully they can recognize at some point that these are young people that need to have a future."

Champion's family says they also believe the band should remain on suspension and are suing FAMU.

Michael Westmoreland, another Tallahassee resident, adds, "If a kid brings a gun to school and it's not the school's fault, should the school be sued? That's not really justifiable to try and sue the school."

Pam Champion says, "FAMU, they need to clean house. Seriously, need to clean house."

Whether or not people agree with the Champion family in their ideas of how and who should be punished, many say they feel it's understandable to be upset for losing their only son.
