Tallahassee, Florida (AP) --

A new survey shows most Floridians are willing to support tax increases for public schools and health and human services even in these troubled economic times.

The Pew Center on the States released results Wednesday, October 6 for surveys in Florida and four other states ranked as the nation's
most fiscally stressed.

The Florida survey also shows residents almost evenly split on
raising taxes for universities and colleges.

Most, though, are unwilling to pay higher taxes for prisons,
highways and other transportation programs.

The telephone survey was taken in June. It included 1,003 adult
Floridians and has an error rate of plus or minus 4 percentage

DEC....But the state of FL is not cutting...have you seen the new Court of Appeals and the Dept of Finance in Southwood....neither were needed and the courthouse cost over $47 million and the Finance Blding over $30 million, then we have Gaines St, the new theatre, a turtle tunnel (another $9 million wasted)....they need to trim the fat, start telling some people "NO", either do without or find other resources!

Get a grip, you're right but how about using some tax money that they already have, instead of paying it to people who don't work,or paying it to illegals?Or for paying someone else's healthcare?

Excuse have never seen a republican say they expect anyone to cover their insurance, car payment, electric bill as you did in the last election. Its funny that you would rather resort to name calling instead of using facts...another democrat trait! Taxes and larger govt is a republican/democrat thing...and if cant see that, its no wonder why America is becoming a third world nation.

I don't know who they surveyed but it sure wasn't me. I would support taxes for prisons, roads, public safety and the like. I would NOT support more taxes for welfare (human services) or (unaccountable) public schools. Most people I know feel the same way. Who did they survey, welfare recipients?

Look, taxes are a fact of life, it cost money to run things, to pave roads, to put out fires, to take your garbage to the dump, to police the city, to educate our children. As infaltion rises so does the cost of doing business. It's simple economics. It's not a democratic or republican party thing, it's life.
