MAYO, Fla. -- A community is in shambles from the death of 19-year-old Danielle Nicole Ezell.
"I look at the sidewalk now and watch for her to come in the door," says owner of Tumbleweed's Smokehouse, Wanda Williams. "It's very sad and we're all very saddened."
Danielle was killed early Thursday morning when her pickup truck flipped over a guardrail and ejected her. According to officials, she was not wearing a seatbelt.
"The driver was traveling Northbound on State Road 51 in a GMC pickup truck," says Sgt. Tracy Hisler-Pace with Florida Highway Patrol. "Once she crossed the bridge, for an unknown reason, she veered to the right, struck the guardrail, went back across both lanes, struck a guardrail on the Southbound side and then the truck overturned and went down into a ravine."
Danielle, who's 20th birthday would have been Wednesday was known to the people of Lafayette County as a leader, who will be sorely missed.
"Danielle was a fabulous young lady," said Wanda. "A beautiful young lady. She was the youth of this community. The youth loved her, her family loved her. All of the friends and everything, she's a long life resident of Lafayette County...and we're gonna miss her very much."
According to troopers, they are still investigating the crash. If you have any information please call FHP at 386-754-6270.
