Just before 6:00 a.m. this morning units from Station 3 and 1 of the Tallahassee Fire Department responded to a single family residential structure fire in the 3100 block of Prospect Street. The family of four was alerted by smoke detectors and was able to safely exit the structure. Firefighters encountered heavy smoke upon arrival and quickly extinguished the blaze, containing it to the room of origin. There were no reported injuries and damages are estimated to be around $15,000. The Red Cross was called to assist the family.
