UPDATE 5-17 11:10 pm by Amy Long

Tallahassee, FL - Tallahassee police confirm that they received reports of a body in the pond in Southwood, near Dickenson and Four Oaks earlier today (5-17). A police spokesman confirms that a body was found and that an investigation is underway , but right now, that is all police will say.

People on the scene Tuesday night, were grief-stricken with the thought of someone they knew and loved dying in the water.

Police have not identified the body, but friends and family of Eddie Fields, 33, fear that it could be him.

Members of Fields' family say he told his wife he was going fishing, then hunting, on Sunday. (5-15). When Fields didn't come home Sunday night, his wife didn't worry, but Tuesday, his wife was hysterical at the edge of the pond.

Tuesday, Field's aunt says the family came to look for him and found his boat in the pond and truck parked in the subdivision.

Tallahassee police have not confirmed that the body is that of Fields, but his family says they are confident it's him.

@anonymous- yes urbanization moved into the snakes territory but there must be some way to keep them out of the populated areas. Homeowners there have the mocassins in their yards and flower beds and areas where their children play. Hopefully the autopsy will give some answers to why this young man left too soon!

This is news worthy of respect to a family, not bashing! No drug deal, shooting, stealing, robbery, etc...just fishing! Priorities of life are warped if you can't see RIP young man is the only comment appropriate.

Let's remember that if it was a Mocassin that got him...those areas use to be deep woods...so humans have actually inhabited their(the snakes) territory....

Is everyone forgetting the you have to wait 24 hours before you can file a missing persons report. Do the timeline of this. Do not accuse his wife of anything that is just being ugly. May God and the community comfort this family in its time of grief. May God bless them and keep them safe and well.

A family lost their loved one and people are arguing about fishing/hunting regs and home owner's associations? It's so sad that we have turned into such a selfish society. My condolences to this family. May God comfort and strengthen you.

The resident that complained is nothing more than a boggot. I hope and pray that nothing like this happens to his family. But, it probably will, KARMA HAPPENS!

May God bless all who are sincerely praying for the family and friends of RAMP! Ignorance has it's own reward. May God bless even those with negative remarks and opinions. Eddie/Ramp will surely be missed.
