Tallahassee, Florida --

At last night's (Dec. 8) city commission meeting, Major Lewis Johnson provided a briefing on TPD-specific security measures surrounding the 12 official inauguration events planned that will take place in the city of Tallahassee.

During the briefing, Major Johnson inaccurately stated that inauguration planning officials are attempting to secure singer Justin Bieber to perform. Inauguration Officials have confirmed they are not, nor have they ever attempted to secure him.

The Tallahassee Police Department is able to address inquiries regarding TPD-specifics and asks that any questions regarding inaugural planning events be directed to Erin Isaac at eisaac@scottcarrollinaugural.com.

Coordination of security between participating agencies is being handled by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. Any questions may be directed to Heather Smith at (850)410-7001.
We apologize for any confusion this may have caused.

Y'all are just upset because you weren't invited. You don't remember the parties of the past. This is not new, we just haven't had these parties for a while. I bet the caterers are not complaining about the business.

I have heard the rumors about Justin Bieber being asked to perform. Why not pull from all the great local talent we have here?

if Scott wants to run the state like a business, then maybe the event planners should present him with the bill for all the inauguration festivities. When it comes down to it, we will all pay for his parties.

I don't understand. In his (Scott's) campaign he talked about how he would sell the State Airplane, this & that to save the taxpayer's money. So why are we the taxpayers having to pay for all of these parties for the New Governor elect? Why doesn't he do the right thing in this economy and just have the swearing in ceremony that is short and sweet and get down to doing things for the State of Florida and the people who live here.

This is why I moved out of Tallahassee. The city kept raising my taxes because they are broke....yet they can pay for people like Justin Beiber to perform....amazing!
