Tallahassee, Fla. -- A Tallahassee man will spend the next 30 years in prison for trying to kill his old roommate.

Stoney Glenn was sentenced this morning for shooting his former roommate in the parking lot of the Westview Apartments last April 2012.

Arrest reports say the victim was trying to sell him some furniture to avoid being evicted.

Prosecutors say Glenn shot the man right in the belly button and the bullet hole was still steaming when paramedics arrived.

The victim survived and testified against Glenn.

Tallahassee Police say they have not been able to speak to the man who was shot because he is still recovering from surgery.

Residents at the Westview Apartments are anxious to find out more about who was shot and why.

"First I heard a gunshot when I was watching tv and I didn't know what it was. Then I went out on my balcony to smoke a cigarette and I saw a guy like, laying down," said resident John Hoy. "He'd, I guess, been shot. There was a guy next to him in handcuffs."

A TPD spokesman says no one has been arrested in connection with the shooting. He is not releasing any more information about the victim or his condition.

Tallahassee, Fla. -- Police are looking for a suspect involved in a shooting that sent a man to the hospital. It happened last night around 6:30 at the Westview Apartments on Richmond Street in Tallahassee.

When police arrived, they found a man in the parking lot with a gunshot wound. Officers believe he was taken to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital. They've been sweeping the area for clues and ask for patience.

"You can imagine that if it's a scene that happened outdoors foot traffic people in the area cars coming and going that will destroy any evidence that are there. so they've cornered off the entire area and they're going to search the entire area looking for any type of evidence that they can find that's connected to this case," says Officer Dave Northway with the Tallahassee Police Department.

One person who lives in one of the neighboring apartments said he heard the gunshot, but he didn't want to talk on camera because of how close he lives to the scene.

There is a double standard when it comes to racism. If a white man cries racism everyone gets mad, if an African-American cries racism it's ok (?). It is to the advantage of the black person that racism exists, without it they would have to be accountable and take responsibility for their situation. It is easy to blame racism as it cannot defend itself, it is much more difficult to look at the real issues such as lack of morals or integrity (whites and blacks).

To everyone who is just posting to talk about race issues, economic status, or any other bs your words are not needed. This man that was shot is a man with a huge heart that would give you the shirt off his back. His family is in pain and so are his friends. He is fighting for his life and you all are typing away on your computer arguing about things that have NOTHING to do with him. Imagine if this guy was your family member, how would you feel about these obscene comments? Think before you post, no one wants your 2 cents. The man that was shot is an amazing, wonderful, sweet, caring, and has a HUGE heart. Think about his family and friends who have to constantly see your ignorance and apparent heartlessness as this story continues to unravel. If you have nothing nice to say don't say anything at all...otherwise your just proving to have no heart. #TrUStOrY
