Tallahassee, Florida- August 8, 2012
With the August 14 Florida Primary less than a week away, a new poll is gauging how voters view those candidates.
The poll released Wednesday, August 8 by the non-partisan Tallahassee Voices surveyed the name recognition of candidates and their favorability among voters.
Leon County Superintended of School, Jackie Pons showed the highest level of name recognition at 89 percent. Pons is running against Sabrina M. Allen.
But high name recognition did not always translate into high favorability results, according to the poll. Leon County Sheriff Larry Campbell and Tallahassee City Commission Candidate Scott Maddox both polled at 80 percent for name recognition. However, Campbell and Maddox were the two least favorable candidates among voters surveyed. Campbell had a 40 percent unfavorable rating. Maddox's unfavorable rating was at 38 percent.
The poll surveyed 5,000 voters county-wide, of which 364 responded. The poll was conducted from July 10 through July 16.
