Tallahassee, FL- Meet Ashon Noah Kohler. The 8 pound baby boy made his grand entrance into the world at 3:12 Wednesday morning, making him Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare's first baby of 2014.
"Oh, I just had tears in my eyes, it's incredible, just incredible," said Ashton's dad, Jon Kohler. And, he wasn't the only one who thinks it's incredible. We were also there when Ashton's big brother got to meet him for the first time.
"I don't think his older brother, he's two and a half, really understands quite yet," Kohler said. "He's been asking for his brother, but he doesn't really realize he's here now."
Meanwhile, over at Capital Regional Medical Center, Lashandra Sharp gave birth to the first baby girl of the new year.
The five pound nine ounce bundle of joy wasn't due until January 23rd, but decided to make her debut 7:30 Wednesday morning.
"They called us and said we have a patient, who's crowning in the emergency room, bring your toys and come fast, so we headed down there and had a baby right after," said labor and delivery nurse, Pam Hill.
Lashandra, who's still trying to pick the perfect name for her little girl, says she is feeling overjoyed and a little tired.
"It's just something special about bringing in a baby in the new year; new life, new year, new hope," added Hill.
