Tallahassee Businesses Affected By Rising Prices At The Pump

The average price of a gallon of regular gasoline in Florida is $3.46.

But the price isn't only going up at the pump, it's pushing up the price of imports and exports all across the city of Tallahassee, too.

Although, for now, Artistic Flowers and many other businesses are trying to simply eat the cost. "We have no plans of raising our prices unless they just back us in a corner." says florist Jaimie Roberts

Roberts says one of their vendors has already sent an invoice that is higher than normal because of the cost of fuel. "Prices hike up and we have to pay for it, but, we just do what we have to do to keep going."

CapitalCityFood.com, a local delivery service, pays its contracted drivers a flat rate - and relies on customers to supplement the rest.

Jarod Bates, CapitalCityFood.com Manager says, "Gas prices affect everybody, but we've also see that when that happens that our costumers have also been very understanding and they'll usually take care of those drivers."

Mike Vaughn the owner and founder of Mike's Moving and Limos says in December it cost him $3,750 to fill his 1,500 gallon fuel tanks. This week he paid about $5,750.

That's a 2,000 dollar increase, but Vaughn says it's just a cost of doing business.

Vaughn also says he relies on the site http://gasbuddy.com/ to find the cheapest stations in town.
