Khalif Wilson was found not guilty by a jury last week.

Wilson's attorney Barbara Hobbs says jurors deliberated for five hours before reaching that not guilty verdict.

Khalif Wilson is now back behind bars in Leon County. He was out on $100,000 bond until his re-trial, but today a judge revoked his bond and had him arrested.

Wilson's attorney says the 23 year old was arrested for DUI in Orlando and did not notify the court.

His re-trial is now scheduled for September 13th.

The jury came back hung. Prosecutor Jack Campbell says he and Defense Attorney Barbara Hobbs will reschedule a new trial date.

Campbell says that will probably be in the next two months.

Was it self defense? A jury could be handing down its answer to that question soon. Trial is wrapping up for Khalif Wilson, the man charged with trying to kill a man during a fight.

The prosecution and the defense rested and began closing arguments after lunch Thursday.

The jury began deliberating 2:17 p.m.

Day two of the Khalif Wilson trial began Thursday morning with expert witnesses.

But, Wilson took the stand in his own defense, depicting a much different scene than his shooting victim did.

Wilson's defense attorney, Barbara Hobbs, said, "They see it one way and obviously I see it another."

The way State Prosecutor Jack Campbell sees it, is that Khalif Wilson intentionally shot Shawn Jones in the chest around 2:00 a.m. on June 27, 2009.

Witnesses have testified that several brawls had broken out outside of the Riverfront Saloon in Leon County.

Campbell said, "The fact that he's the only person who came and got a weapon and not just a weapon, but a .45-automatic pistol. He immediately fled the scene and then started lying about it all. This tells me that his actions were criminal."

Monday, Jones demonstrated in court that Wilson stood on over him and shot him.

But, Wilson took the stand on Tuesday. He said he got his gun from his truck after seeing his roommate fighting, tucked it in his waistband, and after taking three or four steps, he fell after Jones punched him in the head.

Wilson says Jones straddled on top of him on the ground and was hitting him.

Wilson says he pulled his gun out and shot Jones.

"There's evidence to prove that the firearm was shot four times that night, one of which hit Shawn in the chest." Said, Campbell.

Hobbs said, "Mr. Wilson is a very, very mild-mannered young man. He doesn't go looking for trouble. He's never been in trouble in his life. This was an aberration and I think that but for the fact that he was caught in a very violent situation, he would never had done what he did."

Campbell says if the shooting was self-defense, Wilson would've said so that night instead of first accusing his roommate.

Hobbs said in witness testimonies no one saw Wilson standing over Jones and says that Jones was the aggressor.

Experts from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement testified that the blood on Wilson's shirt and hat matched Jones' DNA. They also said that Wilson had gunshot residue on his hand and that his DNA was identified on his pistol.

We will have the verdict on wctv.tv when it becomes available.

Testimony began Wednesday in the trial of a man charged with attempted first degree murder from a night-club brawl turned shooting last June.

The shooting victim was the first to testify inside of courtroom 3C Wednesday morning.

In the prosecutors words "It was a stupid bar fight that escalated." It was a fight that witnesses say was all over a bottle of Grey Goose vodka. Wednesday, Khalif Wilson listened and watched as the shooting victim described how it all went down.

Defense attorney Barbara Hobbs plays the roll of the defendant as Shaun Jones tries to demonstrate how he says Khalif wilson shot him.

Shawn Jones, described how he was shot, "I fell and when I fell I was laying on the ground. That's when the blue shirt and the white hat came and literally stood over me and started shooting."

Jones was the first to take the stand in Wilson's trial Wednesday. He and nine other people testified that several fist fights broke out in the parking lot of the Riverfront Saloon back on June 27th.

Tiffany Woods, a Riverfront Employee said, "We were talking to the people that were in the original fight. I heard him say "I'm going to my truck" moments after that we heard shots fired and I just took off."

Andrew Rolle told the jury that he was celebrating his birthday with friends at the Riverfront then when they discovered his bottle of Grey Goose Vodka had been stolen, that's when the trouble started outside. Authorities later caught up with Rolle who was riding with Wilson.
"I saw the lights, they pulled their guns out. We got out. They told us to put our hands on our head."

Prosecutor Jack Campbell held up the shirt that the victim was wearing that night to show the court that it had been soaked in blood with a bullet hole in it. Hobbs said Wilson didn't intentionally shoot Jones. That he was defending himself.

The prosecution did not rest Wednesday. It says it plans to call an expert with FDLE from Daytona along with law enforcement and forensic officials on Thursday.

At this point, Wilson is expected to take the stand in his own defense.
Trial is underway in Tallahassee Wednesday for a man accused of opening fire in a bar fight.

Khalif Wilson is accused of attempted murder after allegedly shooting 22 year old Shawn Jones.

Authorities say it happened during a fight in front of the Riverfront Saloon bar in Tallahassee back on June 27th.

The first witness Wednesday was the shooting victim himself, Shawn Jones.

He testified that Khalif Wilson stood over him in parking lot of Riverfront after the fight and shot him.

Other witnesses also took the stand including female bouncers at the bar and club goers that night who saw the fighting and chaos.

The defense plans on focusing on why Wilson shot Jones.

He went and got a .45 automatic weapon? Oh my god, who makes such a weapon? Here is a little wisdom Mr. Prosecutor. It is a semi automatic weapon. Semi and automatic are two different types of weapons.

"Automatic" is the generic term for semi-automatics. There are only two types of pistols: Automatics and revolvers. The only time the true "semi automatic" and "automatic" distinction has any relevance is when specific distinctions require explanation. Automatics and revolvers. Those are the two kinds of hand guns.

"he doesn't go looking for trouble" but carries a loaded 45 caliber pistol around with him. What a crock... this guy should be in jail. NO DOUBT!

I carry a loaded .45 cal. pistol with me all of the time. I'm not looking for trouble. That's why I carry it. Owning or carrying a weapon (unless you're carrying it somewhere you're not supposed to be carrying it) does not make you a criminal, and those facts, in and of themselves, prove nothing.

First for the comment that Jones is a liar you can't comment on it unless you were there and WITNESSED it for YOURSELF!!!!!!!!Second of all regardless to if Jones started the fight Wilson still had a weapon. You don't bring a gun to a fist fight. If you are fighting someone winning or losing you do not expect your opponent to shot you. That's how I feel about the whole situation.

yes the defense will come up with why jones got shot. but any reason he gives is not good enough because you shouldn't shoot anyone unless they have a gun on you and you can shoot them first or if someone is in your house trying to harm you
