Tallahassee, FL -- May 19, 2012 --

The Florida Lottery announces that Mark Marcewicz, 49, of Tallahassee, claimed the $221,433 FANTASY 5® top prize from last night's drawing at the Florida Lottery Tallahassee District Office. The winning ticket was purchased at Centerville Mart, located at 2700 Centerville Road in Tallahassee. Marcewicz says he always purchases his Lottery tickets at Centerville Mart because the people there are great.

Marcewicz is a loyal supporter of the Florida Lottery and has attended a number of live draws, radio remotes and other Lottery events around the state. "I win here and there, but I really just enjoy playing," says Marcewicz. "I know that Lottery revenue enhances education."

Although he has had a number of Scratch-Off wins, winning the FANTASY 5 top prize has a special meaning to Marcewicz because of the winning numbers selected. "My father passed away when I was 25 and about ten years ago I had a dream about him where he told me to play these numbers," Marcewicz explained. "I've been playing them ever since and never got discouraged. Then last night they paid off!"

When asked if he had advice for other players hoping to win, Marcewicz said, "Like anything else in life, persistence pays off."

Total ticket sales for the May 17 FANTASY 5 drawing generated more than $285,000 for the Educational Enhancement Trust Fund. The next FANTASY 5 drawing will be held tonight at 11:15 p.m. ET. Florida Lottery drawings are broadcast on 17 carrier stations throughout the state, including WTXL (ABC) in the Tallahassee area, and are available for viewing on the Florida Lottery website. Winning numbers are available on the Lottery website, at retailers statewide and by phone at (850) 921-PLAY.

The Florida Lottery reinvests nearly 98 percent of its revenue into the state's economy through prize payouts, donations to education, and money paid to Florida retailers. In 2011, Florida Lottery games made 79 people millionaires. Since its beginning in 1988, the Florida Lottery has transferred billions of dollars to the Educational Enhancement Trust Fund, investing in Florida's future leaders through school construction, K-12 classroom support and more than 550,000 Bright Futures scholarships. The games of the Florida Lottery are designed to fuel excitement while funding tomorrow. For more information, visit www.flalottery.com.

Cool!! Mark and I have been friends forever! We go way back, so far I can't even remember when we first became friends. Must have been when we were babies. Of course it's been awhile since we've seen each other, but that's ok, we're still best friends. Yes sir, me and Mark, Mark and me, pals, buddies, compadres! (By the way Mark, could you spare few hundred bucks?)

Congrats my man. Think about that all you non-players out there. Kinda makes your "well the lotto's just a tax on poor-people" not so high and mighty feeling now. Ya can't win like Mark if ya don't play. Throw in a dollar every once in a while!!

It's not a tax on poor people, it's a tax on people who are bad at math. For every lottery player like Mark, there are thousands more who squander money weekly and never win a dime.

What's a CORVET? It's only 221.442, not likely time to retire yet. Life changer, but so many better things to do with the money than buying a car.
