A Hillsborough County Sheriff's detective shot a suspect during an investigation into a bank robbery.
Sheriff David Gee says investigators tracked the suspect to the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Monday night. The man, who is about 30 years old, told them the money from the bank robbery was at his house in nearby Valrico.
After obtaining a search warrant, investigators were led inside by the suspect, who had been very cooperative. Gee says the man grabbed a knife in the kitchen and the detective fired and struck the suspect.
The man was taken to Tampa General Hospital in "extremely critical condition." No deputies were injured.
Investigators found some of the money from the bank robbery at the home. It was stained from a dye pack that exploded.
