Associated Press Release
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) -- A 13-year-old St. Petersburg teen has been charged with attempted murder after authorities say he shot another teen who taunted him.
The teen turned himself into police Friday and was booked into a juvenile detention center. The Associated Press is not identifying him because he's a minor.
St. Petersburg police say the teen was arguing with a group of teens Wednesday when he pulled out a gun and fired multiple times at 15-year-old Dinarick Ford. Ford remains hospitalized with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
It's unclear where the suspect got the gun. The Tampa Bay Times reports he declined an interview with detectives on the advice of his attorney.
Pinellas-Pasco Chief Assistant State Attorney Bruce Bartlett said prosecutors will consider the possibility of seeking adult charges against the teen.
