Winter Haven, FL (AP) - June 12, 2012 -

Polk County Sheriff's officials say 36 men have been arrested during a 10-day undercover investigation called Operation Cyber Child.

Sheriff Grady Judd plans an 11 a.m. briefing Monday to discuss the operation that concluded Sunday.

Officials say the men were charged with traveling to meet juveniles and other crimes. Those arrested include a fifth grade public school teacher and a registered sex offender.

A sheriff's office press release says detectives posed as children in fictitious ads and profiles they posted on various websites. Numerous men responded to the ads and then chatted with juveniles online, texted them and even talked on the phone with the detectives who were posing as children.

The sheriff's office worked with a number of agencies during the 10 day operation.

as some one whos has someone caught u in the tallahassee sex sting you are only hearing the polices side of this they are not placing ads with minors on them because they would be taken down they start out talking and listing an adult have them go to a seperate site to chat and then pull the old bait and switch but the clincher is the pict they send you is of a 25 year old so becareful to shout from the roof tops before you see all the evidence ost of these never go to trial because the state doesnt want the comp-lete evidence to be made public then they might have citizens in an uproaor while i agree there are some sickos who got caught and were probably talking explicitly about children it just isnt the case for all

Are you questioning someone's credibility because of their inability to communicate effectively? Me too.

I am not for kids being hurt, but I have for a long question the way these cases are being built. I do web design as a hobby and I can tell you the image are not constant. Pixel can be bend, updated and completely change from what they original started out as. I have long said it is not the User that direct where they go it is the coders coding and they do not have access to it

Seems that these cretins never read newspapers or watch television news. News coverage of such "stings" is common.

I am somewhat a believer in the penal system's focus on rehabilitation, and its ability to do so for certain types of criminals. I believe it CAN, in certain instances, operate to change a person's ways. One's sexually-based mental illness, however, is not one of those types of crimes that I believe can be fixed in any way. These folks are sick, and I believe beyond repair. What the answer is, I don't wish to hazard to guess here. These stories just reinforce my unfortunate mindset of not trusting anyone but myself, my wife and our parents with our child, and not allowing her near the internet until she's at an advanced age.

Whats bad is these "people" will get a slap on the wrist. While someone who sells a bag of weed will go to prison for years.

You mean like the guy from Thomasville that is currently awaiting his sentencing, facing a mandatory minimum of 10 years?

Probably never been caught before. The story says a fifth grade teacher and a registered sex offender, he must not have been the one registered.

I really do not understand the minds of child sex offenders?!? what goes on in their head? And what do they find sexually appealing about little kids?

Make them post a 5x6ft sign in their yard stating what they did on line. What a bunch of sickos.

As much as dislike child molesters I must ask: what would a sign accomplish? How do you feel about murderers, drug traffickers, habitual DUI, and robbers/burglars being released back into the public? All of those have a much higher re-offense rate, and much more violent. I'm not playing down child molesters, but you need to look at the whole picture.
