NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. (AP) --
A Florida State University student accused of planning an attack on his pregnant girlfriend now faces more charges.
Authorities said Tuesday that 18-year-old Devin R. Nickels
contacted another man about staging another attack on a 17-year-old
pregnant girl after a New Year's attack failed to fulfill his plan
to kill the fetus.
Nickels was charged with an additional count of solicitation to
commit aggravated battery on a pregnant woman. He is in the Land
O'Lakes Jail with bail set at $50,000. Officials say the girl and
unborn child are fine.
Officials say 19-year-old Andres Marrero alerted them to
Nickels' second plan. Marrero, a University of Tampa student, faces
armed kidnapping and aggravated battery on a pregnant female
stemming from the Jan. 1 attack.

New Port Richey, FL (AP) - A third teen has been charged in the beating of a pregnant 17-year-old girl whose boyfriend, police say, organized the attack, hoping to make the girl miscarry.
The Pasco County Sheriff's Office reports that 18-year-old Marshall Lee Chapman was charged Thursday with armed kidnapping and aggravated battery on a pregnant female. He's being held on $160,000 bail.
Authorities say 18-year-old Devin R. Nickels hired Chapman and 19-year-old Andres Luis Marrero to attack his pregnant girlfriend. Authorities say Nickels and the girl were at an apartment complex just hours after the New Year when Marrero came over pretending to be an armed robber. He allegedly forced them into the woods and kicked her in the stomach. She was treated and the fetus appeared to be uninjured.
Authorities say Chapman drove Marrero to and from the scene.

Students on FSU's campus were shocked to hear fellow Nole, 18-year-old Devin Nickels, hired a man to beat up his 17-year old-girlfriend and kill his unborn baby.
Dustin Flemming who lives in Salley Hall says, "A lot of kids might joke about that, but that's disgusting and unheard of. That's horrific."
"My first thought was who would ever do something like that first of all and then to hire ... and she was pregnant.. it just was." says Dorian Blue
The beating-for-hire plot happened in Pasco County, Florida. That's where police say Nickels paid 19-year-old Andres Marrero to complete a "fake robbery," and kidnapping.
A report in the Tampa Tribune says Nickels and Marrero attempted to carry out the plan back on January 1st. According to arrest papers cited in the Tribune article, Nickels and his girlfriend went to a Land O' Lakes apartment complex ... where the 18-year-old called Marrero who arrived at the scene.
Arrests papers say Marrero put on a mask then pointed the gun at the girlfriend ordering her to get out of the car or he would shoot her ... Police say Marrero then lead the girl to some nearby woods where he kicked and punched her in the stomach repeatedly.
A month later, Nickels was hauled away in handcuffs from Salley Hall.
Pasco County native, Dorian Blue says he remembers the headline back home but never thought the person behind it lived in his building on campus. "It's crazy, I mean I can't believe that the guy lived in Salley Hall."
Police say 19-year-old Andres Marrero is a University of Tampa student. He is currently in the Land O' Lakes Jail.
Nickels is being held in the Leon County Jail on 50,000 bond.
Reports show the girlfriend was hospitalized, but the baby is believed to be OK.
