LARGO, Fla. --
A southwest Florida teenager has been hospitalized after authorities say he was apparently shot while playing with a gun.
The 17-year-old was taken to the hospital Friday night with life-threatening injuries. Authorities have not released his name. It's unclear if he was alone or if others were involved.
Pinellas County Sheriff's deputies are investigating the shooting, but say preliminary evidence revealed it may have been the result of horseplay.
