[UPDATE] 4-18 10:57am -

Now officially open, the Red Hills Surgical Center (RHSC) is not only providing a valuable service to our community by addressing a shortage of operating rooms, it is also creating jobs, providing a capital investment and developing our region's workforce.

The facility is creating approximately 30 immediate jobs, with plans to add more than 10 additional new positions throughout the next three years, each with an average annual salary above that of the region. Red Hills has also made a capital investment of more than $9 million in our community through its investment in design development, land, construction, renovations, medical equipment and development costs.

The Economic Development Council of Tallahassee/Leon County maintains an inventory of the best local, state and federal solutions to support new business development. The organization worked with the City of Tallahassee, Leon County, Workforce plus and educational institutions to provide Red Hills Surgical Center with innovative permitting and tax incentives, to include an observatory in the facility that will help to train our future health care workforce.

About 30 new jobs are coming to the Tallahassee area. Along with a new medical facility.

The Red Hills Surgical Center is a joint venture with Tallahassee Memorial Hospital and 35 local physicians.

It's located at Miccosukee and Surgeons Drive, right behind The Tallahassee Memorial Hospital.

The center is 17,000 square feet and offers many out patient procedures along with general surgery.

The Red Hills Surgical Center plans on specializing in ear, nose and throat issues. Orthopedic Surgery, General Surgery, and Gynecology.

The CEO of Tallahassee Memorial Health Care says, the facility offers a learning environment new to Tallahassee.

The CEO Mark O'Bryant says,"one of our operating rooms has a unique design that allows us to also provide education for students. It allows them to observe cases. It does have a viewing area outside but also uses digital technology to allow them to actually look via camera right into the surgical sight."

The Red Hills Surgical Center plans on seeing patients as soon as next week.

Is this TMH's first move to get ready to be shut down as a not for profit hospital by Scott? They see Medicaid dollar bills in their eyes? That big pot of money.
