Gadsden County, FL -- Three former Cottondale High School athletes are in critical condition following an accident on I-10 in Gadsden County.
Sheldon Vann, 18, Elijawaun Jackson, 19, and Jacquez Walker, 18, all of Cottondale, FL were traveling in the inside westbound lane of I-10 in a 1998 Toyota 4Runner, and Melvin Skipper, 44, of Chipley, FL was in the outside lane in a 2006 Jeep Liberty.
Vann, the driver of the 4Runner, attempted to change lands and collided with the left side of the Jeep. Skipper ran off the road in the Jeep, stopping in a grass shoulder; Vann overcorrected and to the left, and crossed over a grass median, before overturning into the eastbound lanes of I-10.
All three occupants of the 4Runner were ejected from the vehicle and sustained critical injuries. FHP’s report indicates that none of them were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident.
