Tallahassee, FL - Art reception to help support Animal Service Center - The City of Tallahassee Animal Services Advisory Board will host a public reception for the 2010 Bark & Wine: Art for Animals exhibit. On Monday, Dec. 6, from 5:30-7:30 p.m., the Tallahassee-Leon Community Animal Service Center (ASC) will be open for animal lovers and art enthusiasts alike to enjoy a unique art display and sale featuring paintings and portraits by local artists, wine tasting, music and tasty nibbles.
Art on display will be available for purchase. The Animal Shelter Foundation (ASF) will receive 30 percent of all art sales and 100 percent of ticket sales. The ASF is a nonprofit group that helps to make a positive difference in the lives of homeless animals at the Animal Service Center. Tickets are $10 per person and may be purchased at the door or in advance by calling 321-3665.
The event provides a great opportunity for visitors to meet the many wonderful, adoptable pets currently housed at the ASC. During the event, the kennels will be open, but the animals will not be available for adoption. Adoptions of the pets will be available on Tuesday from 10 a.m. to noon, with normal business hours resuming on Wednesday, Dec. 8.
The Animal Service Center, located at 1125 Easterwood Drive (adjacent to the entrance to Tom Brown Park), is operated and maintained by the City's Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Affairs Department.
