Wakulla County, FL - Damaging winds from severe storms knocked down trees and power lines in our area Tuesday. Wakulla County was one of the areas to feel the impact.
Betty Mullins was at home when a tree fell on her roof. It knocked a hole in her ceiling as she was getting ready to start cooking for Thanksgiving.
Despite the damage to her home, she says it won't stop her from hosting about two dozen of her relatives Thursday, just as she has for nearly 30 years.
"Just have to have it fixed. That's life I guess. You can't give up when things happen. They'll just have to overlook the damage. They will for Memaw's cooking," said Mullins.
Betty was not hurt from the ceiling collapse, but her home did lose power.
A Duke Energy spokesman says 25-hundred customers in the Monticello District, including Wakulla County had power restored before the most recent line of storms.
Wakulla County Fire and Rescue crews were also busy clearing debris and protecting residents from downed power lines.
