MIAMI (AP) -- April 18, 2011 -

A national gun control campaign is making a stop in South Florida.

The Fix Gun Checks Truck Tour will be in Miami on Monday. The
tour was started in the wake of the Tucson shootings by a
bipartisan coalition of mayors from around the country, including
30 in Florida. It features a clock that tolls the number of
Americans killed with guns since the Jan. 8 shootings that killed
six people and critically injured Rep. Gabrielle Giffords.

The mayors want Congress to pass a law that would subject every
gun sale to a background check. They also want the names of people
prohibited from buying a gun listed in a central database.

Mayor John Marks of Tallahassee is a "Mayors Against Illegal Guns" coalition member according to their website.

These mayors need to focus on "illegals" from other countries that are in America taking jobs from Americans who are legal. Illegals get free education, health care, money from the government, etc. I wish they would focus on the word "illegal" when it pertains to this problem.

Gun control is being able to hit your target!!! Seriously, if the current gun laws were ENFORCED there would be almost no problems. The major problem is that these groups, in an ongoing effort to overturn the second amendment and ban all guns, overlook that. As long as existing laws are not enforced and gun crime keeps rising they can howl about making new laws that restrict the rights of decent, law abiding people. Somehow they don't seem to understand that criminals DO NOT OBEY LAWS and won't obey gun laws especially. We don't need new or more laws, we need ENFORCEMENT of the current laws!

Funny thing is, doctors kill more people every year than guns by far. So let's ban all doctors. Makes sense right?

Laws are already in place to make it so certain high risk people can't own or buy a gun. These people owning a gun is already ILLEGEAL. All laws like this do is punish the honest legal gun owners. No matter what laws are passed, if someone wants a gun they will get a gun, well the criminals will at least.

If I were mayor, I would take it one step further and call it "Mayors Against All Guns". Furthermore, I will continue to ask my patients if they own a firearm during doctor visits.

Hasn't this guy done enough damage in our town? Now he's messing with our Bill of Rights. ... Just another reason to have him removed as our mayor IMO.

This whole "gun control" issue is really a non-issue. Guns don't kill people...people kill people! The crooks are always going to have guns, anyway, so why do you idiots assume taking legal guns from the good, law abiding citizens is going to make this a safer society. Duh!!! Try a completely new concept....THINK!
