[UPDATE] Collegiate Inn Stabbing Suspect Headed to Prison

David Greyer entered a no contest plea last week and will spend the next five years in prison for a stabbing at the Collegiate Inn last fall.

Prosecutor David Marsey says Greyer entered the plea to a reduced charge of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and was sentenced to five years in prison and 10 years on probation.

Greyer was also ordered to pay more than $21,000 in restitution to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital to cover the victim's medical bills. He'll have to pay a minimum of $185 a month once he is released from prison.

Greyer was accused of stabbing an aquaintance after a fight at the Collegiate Inn back in September 2010.

The Tallahassee Police Department has issued a press release about the attempted homicide suspect turning himself in to police:

On September 10, Investigator Craig Isom from the Tallahassee Police Department's Violent Crimes Unit positively identified the suspect as 42-year-old David Greyer. A warrant for Greyer's arrest was obtained.

On September 12, Greyer walked into the Tallahassee Police Department lobby and turned himself in.

Tallahassee, Florida (Press Release) --

On September 8, the Tallahassee Police Department responded to 2121 West Tennessee Street (The Collegiate Inn), in reference to a report of a stabbing. The victim reported that he had an argument between him and suspect “David”. The argument escalated and the victim was stabbed multiple times. The victim was transported to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital and treated for his injuries. Investigators from the Tallahassee Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit are asking for assistance in identifying the suspect.

The investigation is ongoing and details cannot be released at this time.     Can someone explain to me how one man can get thirty years in prison for theft and burglary(previous page) and then this man only gets 5 year in prison for attempted homicide?

    How in the name of sam hill is this man suppose to pay the victim's medical bills in prison? What's wrong with these stupid judges?

      You can get paid in prison by the government.

    Think this guys is scum, and I am glad he will be gone for a long long time! Good riddance to you, you will not be missed. That's why we send them to prison, in hopes they just kill each other off so we don't have to worry about them anymore.

    yeah right. he's really gonna pay. he'll get outta prison, and do what? i'll tell you what. sells drugs, rob somebody, or who knows what levels he'll stoop to. but the victom will never see a dime of restitution. he probably lives with his mom, and she says his a victom. he didn't have a dad, he's a good boy. i say stab him up real good, and let him know how it feels.

    do you really think he is going to pay 185 a month or serve his probation? the tax payers has got to foot the bill for him for the next 50 years. probly the rest of his life. THANKS JUDGE ANOTHER JOKE ON THE HONEST CITIZENS IN AMERICA.
