UPDATE: Doctor Avoids Prison in Internet Solicitation Case

UPDATED 1.28.2011 by Julie Montanaro

A Tallahassee doctor accused of trying to solicit sex on line from what he thought was a 14 year old girl was in court this morning.

The teen was actually an undercover investigator with the Florida Attorney General's Office.

Today, Stuart Tillman plead no contest to the computer solicitation charges.

Circuit Judge Charles Dodson sentenced Tillman to six months in jail followed by nine and a half years of probation.

Tillman could have faced up to 25 years in prison for the crime.

Prosecutor Jon Fuchs said, "It's disappointing given the number of chats and the sexual nature of those chats." Fuchs says he is exploring the possibility of appealing the sentence.

An arraignment date has been scheduled for the Tallahassee doctor arrested for soliciting sex from a minor.

35-year-old Stuart Tillman's arraignment date has been set for August 24th at 8:30 a.m. at the Leon County Courthouse in Courtroom 2B.

Tillman was arrested on July 8th and is being charged with ten counts of computer solicitation.

Capital Regional Medical Center and Tallahassee Memorial Hospital both suspended Tillman's privileges following the arrest.

A Tallahassee doctor is under arrest. He's accused of trying to solicit a teenage girl on line.

Anesthesiologist Stuart Tillman was arrested at his home Wednesday morning, stunning his colleagues and neighbors.

Dr. Stuart Tillman looked dazed as detectives led him through the gate and into the Leon County jail where he was booked on 10 felony counts of soliciting a minor.

Arrest reports say the 35 year old anesthesiologist was chatting on line with what he thought was a 14 year old girl in Jacksonville, but it turned out to be cyber crime cops with the Florida Attorney General's Office.

"Dr. Tillman was engaging this undercover investigator and was sexually soliciting the child with different sexual details and encouraging them to perform sexual behaviors, things that were pretty explicit in nature," said spokeswoman Sandi Copes.

Tillman works at Anesthesiology Associates in Tallahassee. The director had no comment, but Tillman's colleagues called his arrest "unbelievable" ... describing him as straight laced, almost nerdy and say he and his wife are expecting their first child next month.

Tillman was arrested at his home in High Grove Wednesday morning and agents with the FBI, Attorney General's Office and Leon County Sheriff's Office served a search warrant at the house.

"We removed several items from his home including his lap top computer and some other electronic devices. Those devices will undergo additional forensic analysis to determine whether or not there's any additional evidence," Copes said.

The arrest papers are too graphic to share. They say Tillman gave the supposed teen explicit instructions on masturbation, asked to meet her for sex and even talked on the phone with an investigator posing as the teen to discuss the possibility of meeting.

Bond has been set at 10-thousand dollars. Tillman's first court appearance is set for Thursday morning.

Press Release from the Attorney General's Office:

TALLAHASSEE, FL – Attorney General Bill McCollum today announced a
Tallahassee doctor has been taken into custody on charges he sexually
solicited someone he thought was a 14-year old girl. Stuart Flanders
Tillman, an anesthesiologist, was arrested after he allegedly engaged in
numerous online chat sessions with an undercover investigator from the Attorney General's CyberCrime Unit.

Tillman, 35, approached the undercover investigator in an online chatroom, believing he was talking to a 14-year old girl from Jacksonville. He was also chatting with at least two other law enforcement officers, still believing he was talking with young teenagers. According to the arrest report, Tillman allegedly solicited the “young girls” for sex in graphic detail and coached them through sexual behavior online.

Law enforcement officers with the CyberCrime Unit executed a search
warrant at Tillman's Tallahassee home this morning and seized a laptop
computer, along with other electronic devices. Tillman was taken into
custody on scene. The arrest was assisted by the FBI, the Florida
Department of Law Enforcement, and the Leon County Sheriff's Office.

Tillman will be charged with 10 counts of solicitation of a minor, a
third-degree felony, and additional charges may be added at a later date.

He was booked into the Leon County Jail this morning.
