U.S. Forest Service Waives Fees in Honor of Veterans Day

Tallahassee, Fla. – In honor of Veterans Day and those Americans who have served in the armed services, the U.S. Forest Service is waiving fees to the public on Nov. 11 at select day-use recreation areas in the Apalachicola, Osceola and Ocala National Forests.

“We extend this invitation to recognize the service and sacrifices of our nation’s veterans and their families,” said Susan Jeheber-Matthews, Forest Supervisor for the National Forests in Florida. “We hope you take this opportunity to visit your National Forests in Florida to help make your Veterans Day more memorable.”

The Forest Service recreation sites listed are the only locations waiving day-use fees on Nov. 11:

Ocala National Forest

-Fore Lake Day Use
-Farles Day Use
-Lake Eaton Boat Ramp & Pier
-Mill Dam Boat Ramp
-Juniper Springs (**fee-free only for veterans, military members and their families)

Apalachicola National Forest

-Leon Sinks Geological Area

Osceola National Forest

-Olustee Beach Day Use Area
