Tallahassee, FL-Unemployment numbers are down in Florida
The state released its unemployment numbers for February on Friday
The numbers show the unemployment rate dropped from 7.9 percent in January to 7.7 percent in February.
It's the lowest rate the state has seen since October 2008 when it was 7.4 percent. But is this a sign the economy is finally turning around?
"Jobless numbers are down. The jobless claims are down. The housing numbers are up. There's just lots of things in the economy that are moving again," said Tallahassee resident, Donnie Meeks.
"I feel like the economy isn't getting any better because gas prices are going up. The prices of groceries are still going up. I know people are still having a tough time finding a job," said FSU student, Stephanie Alarco.
According to the U-S Bureau of Labor Statistics, the national unemployment rate for February stands at 7.7 percent.
