Live Oak, FL - If you keep an eye out in Live Oak this week you just might see a small army of volunteers hard at work.
It's the inaugural "Love Week" in Suwannee County, Florida. It's put on by Melody Church on highway 129.
They started Sunday with the Local Life Missions Thrift Store at the Old Suwannee County Mall by Winndixie. All the clothes and goods are donated from the community and then sold in the store to fund church missions.
"It's not just about us and what we're doing at Melody Church. It's about these other organizations that are out there every day and we're just trying to compliment them," said Pastor Darrin Baldwin.
Members of the church vow to donate 25 hundred volunteer hours and $25 hundred. Church leaders say it's important to break out of the four walls of the church to serve others.
"You can do that by serving in your own community. You don't have to go over seas. You can serve right here where you live and start there," said Quinn Skierski.
The agenda includes volunteering at the "Pregnancy Care Center", "Vivid Visions" shelter for battered women, the "Drug Free Coalition" and of course general Tropical Storm Debby Clean Up just to name a few.
"God has a plan for everybody so we just want to share the love this week," said Pastor Baldwin.
Anyone is welcome to join in "Love Week".
