It's 'founding week' in Wakulla County and a local builder wants to help the county appreciate its old history.

Ben Boynton of Wakulla plans to donate 40 acres of land that will help the Wakulla County Historical Society relocate 12 of its historic buildings ... 10 are historic homes and two are community schools that date back to the 1800's.

The plan is to build a park with the historic buildings surrounding it.

This will be a park, and will host a variety of community activities pertaining to the history and culture of the area. No reason a teenager can't volunteer there. As I understand it, the society already has an agreement in place with the local schools to host activities there as well (once the village/park is established)

concerned parent, Last time I checked, parents could keep their teens off the roads, spending their time constructively, off drugs, and in school. That is, if they quit whining and make the effort.

Will it include functioning outhouses to maintain the true period ambience?

It's a wonderful thing to help the historical society but why not donate that land to the county for a park or center for teens. As a parent of two teens, one who is on the wrong path, I would like to see more teen involement in this town. It would keep our teens off the roads some and spending time more constructively and not experimenting with drugs and alcohol and quiting school.
