Shaken up, but not afraid. The victim of a weekend assault told us about an experience she'll never forget.

A man approached her house in the north part of Monticello and attacked her around 3 p.m. Saturday, according to Monticello Police.

"I'm used to sitting out here on my porch, never had a problem," she said.

The man came from around trees adjacent her house and walked up towards her. The woman asked if he needed help.

Next, he pushed her into the house, slammed her against the wall and onto a table.

"It was like he was wanting to pry my legs up so I just took my legs and crossed my feet together, just really really tight," she said.

The man caused some bruises on her face and body, but left before seriously injuring her.

She ran down the street with a stick and piece of glass in her hand , hoping to fight back.

Neighbors and even Monticello police couldn't calm her down. That's when she asked to see an unlikely friend...Willie.

"She clenched on to my arms and said 'please Willie, don't leave me I just had somebody come to my house and hurt me,'" said Willie Walker, a friend of the victim.

"Willie is my angel. He stayed with me until my husband got there," she said.

"That's made me feel very very good and I'll do that over and over again, 1000 times if I have too," Willie added.
