FAMU police are on the hunt for a man who attacked a woman with a box cutter.

They say he attacked the woman on campus last night around 11:30 near the school of Architecture.

The suspect is described as a white man, dressed in black, wearing a mask and sunglasses.

The victim escaped her attacker. She was treated at the scene for scratches and cuts to her chest and thighs.

FAMU students were alerted via text message.

At this time, police say there is no known motive for the attack. Additional officers are patrolling the campus

This is an odd case given that the knife was capable of inflicting very serious cuts.

outlaw all box cutters and knives now and we will end all violent crime

Anything is possible and I am sure the police are competent, but I have seen the results of a boxcutter attack -- stitches are required, even when the blade is only partly extended -- many, many stitches. The one I saw took over 300...

I don't believe her story. I also think you can categorize it with the spray painting on the FAMU sign. People just throwing gas on the coals to see the flare up.. and the guy was wearing a mask and sunglasses? at 11pm? he would have cut himself and had trouble attacking her.

Mmmm where are all the FAMU protestors? For some reason we don't here anything from them on this one. No picketing, no sit ins no nothing...why is that? Black people know black people better than anyone and my guess is they don't find the story to be believable.

Ok what is your explanation. Every time the wind blows, the students at Famu are protesting some perceived injustice to their race. This week alone the made front page news in how many papers for the shooting death of that prowler. Yet the same week that protest is going on and getting national coverage a women gets attacked on their own campus and they say nothing....what is dumb is you trying to convince everyone that nothing is up with that.

Students from FAmu and FSU are protesting. The box cutter attack does not seem to be that serious.

Because white people don't commit crime. It would be comical to think so.

Its not that whites dont commit crime! Its just I think most whites are way too slow to out run the police radio, that thing is faster than superman!

The School of Architecture actually has an equal amount of whites and blacks. I believe the article said she was attacked near the Architecture building, it is not abnormal for a white person to have done it. There are whites on the campus of Florida A&M and the number keeps growing. Every student is not black.

Seems that you would have more than scratches if you were attacked with a box cutter. And no motive? Something strange about this story.

maybe she knows a little martial arts, and was able to effectively defend herself from getting any real damage. Just because you get attacked does not mean that you have to sustain any injury.

That's a good point. The article mentions "cuts to her chest and thighs", so the reader imagines a boxcutter doing damage, damage that might require medical treatment.

Why would she know the motive unless the attacker revealed it to her? Plus, razor/box knives are listed as illegal weapons under Florida concealed weapons laws. Just having that on campus is a Class 3 Felony.
