Springtime Tallahassee director Karen Ellis says a committee of local members picked the participants fairly.. but the office received many phone calls and e-mails of disapproval.
Spectators who say they were looking forward to watching Tallahassee's Young Actors take the stage say they were let down when they found out they wouldn't have the chance. Norma Vorce says, "I was amazed because they are just an old faithful. It just always stood that they would be preforming. For 30 years they have been on of the better shows for spring time Tallahassee."
"There's so many organizations in the community that present us with applications and we wanted to pick a variety and we wanted to give everyone a chance. Every year we get to pick six and that's not many to choose from when we get 100's of applications." says Karen Ellis.
Ellis says the economy has forced Springtime Tallahassee to down size to 3 stages instead of the usual 4... but they are excited about the festivities which are on April 2.
