Youth Triathlon Series Celebrity Splash Dash Press Release
WHAT: The culminating event of the 2013 Tallahassee Youth Triathlon Series, presented by Proctor Subaru. The YTS Celebrity Splash & Dash will take place following the youth and adult waves at the final YTS race of the season.
The celebrity race features a 50-yard swim (2 pool lengths) and 1/4-mile run, similar in length to our 5-7 year old distances. Yes, kick boards are welcome!
WHO: Local politicians, school and community leaders, media personalities, and YTS partners
WHEN: September 1, 2013 (approximately 9:30 a.m.)
WHERE: FSU Morcom Aquatic Center
WHY: Because EVERYONE should "TRI" something new ... just like our young triathletes! The celebrity event will demonstrate our community's support and commitment to health & fitness.
BENEFITS: There is no entry fee for the celebrity race. Our goal is to show our youth participants that THEY are great role models for adults in our community. We will also use the celebrity race as a means to raise awareness about our school grant program.
Each year, the Youth Triathlon Series awards checks to PE departments at schools with the most race participation over the course of the summer. At the finish line on September 1st, winners of this year's school wellness grants will be announced, with help from our celebrity race participants.
The Celebrity Splash & Dash helps wrap up a very successful 12th season of local youth triathlon races - events that help kids stay active all summer long.
The Tallahassee Youth Triathlon Series encourages kids, as young as five-years old, to swim, bike, and run and TRI their best! For many, it's their first attempt at multisport ... simply at a kid-sized distance.
We've gotten more families moving than ever before in 2013, hosting three awesome youth (and adult super sprint) triathlons, and our first-ever USA Triathlon Splash & Dash!
