Thousands of people rushed to Governor Square Mall this weekend to finish what's left of their holiday shopping.

Holiday shopper Christina Howell says, "This is the only day we could do it before Christmas so we were just trying to get it done today."

She says she came to the mall early Sunday morning trying to beat the crowd this holiday season and catch the last minute bargains for Christmas.

The November-December holiday sales period is critical for the stores because it accounts for nearly 50% of their yearly sales.

And one thing the children look forward to this holiday season is coming to the mall and giving Santa their Christmas list.

Holiday shopper Aimaan Hafec says, "We bring our son here every year to see Santa and he brought Santa his list today to tell Santa what he wanted for Christmas."

Governor Square General Manager Eric Litz says since Black Friday, tons of people have packed the malls and he says this must be a sign of better times ahead.

He goes on to say, "This is the time of the year people are out buying for their loved ones. The economy in Tallahassee appears to be picking up. Consumer confidence seems to be picking up and we're the beneficiaries of that."

The Governor's Square Mall will be open this week from 8 in the morning until 10 at night, and 8AM- 6PM on Christmas Eve. It's closed on Christmas Day.

Governor Square Mall does not deserve anyones Christmas business. Many of us prefer less choices in order to be in a "Merry Christmas" setting. "Christ"mas is the reason for the season. They do not deserve to profit. Tallahassee Mall - here we come!

Like duh huh nether my $$$$$ wallet or me does the Happy Holidays thing. It takes a "Merry Christmas" to get us in the door of their non P.C. stores. (GRIN) ~ Just a hint for next year. (SMILE)
